| Part of the Netherlands Antilles, Aruba was virtually undiscovered by the tourist industry until a few years ago. The island has miles of magnificent white sand beaches and its desert-like landscape is home to interesting flora and fauna including the famous divi-divi tree, a natural compass that always leans in the direction of the wind. Aruba has had a colorful history and offers visitors the chance to see both rock formations adorned with ancient native drawings while downtown Oranjestad is like getting a taste of Holland on your Caribbean vacation. Outside of the hurricane path, the island receives only a few inches of rainfall yearly making warm weather a given at any time of year. With palm trees swaying in the tropical breeze and turquoise water lapping on white sand beaches, Aruba is truly a Caribbean paradise. |
